Welcome
David Cunningham began playing the
accordion at the age of five, and did his first professional engagement at ten.
By the age of fifteen he had already appeared on National television in a series
produced by Anglia Television. Some 35 Years ago a six year old David
Cunningham on accordion and his eight year old cousin Ian Adamson on drums made
their first tentative attempts playing together. A few years later school pal
Graham Berry joined them on piano. 1982 when the three school friends performed at a school
concert. Very soon after this the band were given there first professional
engagement for St Andrews University Scottish Dance Club. These three friends
are still working as the broadcasting band and playing around the world when
time permits.
In the early 90's the trio were joined by long term family friend and musician Neil Galloway.
Neil was originally taught by David's father and learned to play on the same accordion as David. He went on to be mentored by the great Mickie Ainsworth and was crowned Scottish accordion champion. In this form the band have played at Balls and RSCDS functions all over the world, from Canada and America to many countries in Europe and Australia. The band have broadcast on T.V. and radio since the early 90's and have produced over 100 dance music tracks on commercial albums for the Scottish Country Danced community.
David also has a passion for helping other bands and musicians get the best recordings and video productions, to fulfill this passion David runs a successful recording services and multimedia company.
The band is currently kept busy, playing mainly as a three or four piece band, almost exclusively for Scottish country dances throughout the length and breadth of Britain and around the world.
David has provided music for Scottish Dancing functions throughout his career, from ceilidh dances, old tyme and strict tempo RSCDS events.

Teaching and mentoring is very close to David's Heart having worked on courses for the RSCDS summer school with Muriel Johnstone, Iain Fraser and Maureen Rutherford.
David teaches private clients from his studios in Fife, and is currently formulating a music workshop and music holiday service, if you are interested please get in touch. We are currently in talks with local hotels and would like to know the level of interest in this service.
As you would expect, David has amassed a large amount of knowledge of Scottish Music, and his passion for learning and furthering his knowledge has driven him to Study at Stirling University in Psychology and Biology with his special area of research in Music cognition and Cognitive Neuroscience

If you are interested in learning Scottish music and how to play for dancing, or just want to learn the accordion, David provides tuition in the form of workshops and training courses from beginner classes to master mentoring, which are run from his private recording and media studio in Fife.
David has contributed to over 250 Scottish music albums in the last 20 years as a producer, engineer and editor, all of which have been recorded in his studio in Fife. David also realised a life long ambition when he was contracted to record the long standing BBC Radio Scotland programme, Take the Floor, hosted by Robbie Shepherd.
